Triton Triton 20 TrX
A well-mannered, fast, fishing-first 20-footer that earns its tournament reputation, dragged down only by recurring factory rigging/leak gripes from owners.

Best for: Serious freshwater bass and tournament anglers who want a fast, dry-riding fiberglass rig that performs on both the top end and the trolling motor.
The good
- BoatTEST found no chine walk in turns or at top end and called it one of the better-mannered bass boats they tested — predictable and smooth to drive
- Dry Chine hull and stringer system deliver a genuinely dry ride and reduced hull flex in rough water
- Fishing-first layout: 41-gal livewell, big 352-qt front box, integrated Lowrance electronics and Minn Kota trolling motor standard
- Multiple long-term owners report hard use 'with really no complaints' and praise it as a strong platform for the price relative to Ranger
The bad
- Repeated owner reports of thru-hull / livewell drain fittings leaking into the hull on brand-new boats, including a factory-broken 90-degree recirc fitting (bbcboards.net)
- At least one buyer of the tournament package expected dual independent livewells but got a single divided livewell with one fill/recirc/pumpout system — a fishability letdown vs. expectation
- Some owners note the 20 is more prone to handling quirks/chine-walk tendencies than the larger 21 TrX hull
- Older-model owners report gelcoat / deck stress cracking, and Triton's customer-service reputation draws complaints on PissedConsumer
The 20 TrX is a legitimately good bass boat: independent testing backs up the dry ride and clean, chine-walk-free handling, and plenty of owners run them hard for years happily. The asterisk is build consistency — leaking thru-hull and livewell fittings on new boats show up often enough in owner forums to be a real pattern, not a one-off. If you buy one, water-test every livewell and pump and inspect fittings before you take delivery, and don't assume a 'tournament' package means dual livewells without confirming it.
